Separation

Separation anxiety has always been found in our dogs to a certain degree, but none more so than in a post Covid world when many of our daily tasks/challenges changed overnight for our dogs this was a very troubling time and now can be found in dogs when they experience distress upon being left alone or separated form a specific member of the family.

Does your dog potentially have seperation anxiety?

If you think your dog/puppy has separation, here are some signs to help understand, if you recognise these signs then this is something one of my packages can help with

Recognising Separation-Related Behaviour (SRB):

  • Destructive behaviour: Dogs may chew or destroy furniture, especially near exits, doors, or windows.

  • Vocal: Howling, barking, and whining are common signs.

  • Toileting: Some dogs may urinate or defecate indoors.

  • Excessive excitement: Dogs may become overly excited before you go as they recognise the behaviour pattern of the human and when the human returns

  • Anxiety before you leave: Watch for signs like trembling, panting, excessive salivation or lip licking

  • Other Signs: Circling, Pacing, excessive Paw Licking

  1. Causes of Separation Anxiety:

    • Dogs may struggle when left alone due to emotional attachment to their owners.

    • Some dogs become bored without appropriate mental and physical stimulation, leading to anxiety.

    • Underlying health issues can also contribute to separation-related behaviour.
